Velvet Underground There She Goes Again Meaning

You know, the hella overplayed song by some band chosen sixpence. Pretty catchy, but anyway from memory:

At that place she goes
There she goes over again
Racing through my encephalon
and I just tin't contain
this feeling that remains

Some kid at school gave me a mix CD and in that location'southward a song on at that place by a ring called the Velvet Underground that is basically the same song. I want to call information technology a cover, just I don't know who covered who. How is it that these very different sounding two bands came to be playing the aforementioned song? Who wrote information technology?

I believe it was originally like an lxxx'southward daughter popular band that did it... sixpence was definitely a comprehend because the original South/T album (my copy) doesn't take it. They released it equally a single and and then when it became a hit they reissued the album with the extra track. The original S/T ending was their best track then that popular fluff on the cease would've completely ruined it.

Constitute it:
Oh and The La's aren't a girl band, actually a brit-pop band. Sorry to their fans for assuming....

It'southward funny. The song'southward so tricky, it's been used in consumer advertising, but if you listen to the lyrics, it's about heroin addiction.

Yeah, the rumor is information technology'south almost smack.

Maybe that'southward the Sixpence story, considering they did accept a female lead and were technically a christian band (really only by label affiliation, and a "clean" artful).

There she goes over again
She's out on the streets over again
She'due south downwardly on her knees, my friend
But you lot know she'll never ask you please again

Now take a look, there's no tears in her eyes
She won't take it from but whatever guy, what can you practice
You come across her walkin' on downwardly the street
Wait at all your friends she's gonna run across
You better hit her

There she goes again
She'south knocked out on her feet again
She's down on her knees, my friend
Merely you know she'll never ask you delight again

Now take a expect, there's no tears in her optics
Like a bird, y'all know she would fly, what tin you practice
You see her walkin' on down the street
Look at all your friends that she'due south gonna encounter
You better hit her

Now take a look, there's no tears in her optics
Like a bird, y'all know she will fly, fly, wing abroad
Meet her walking on down the street
Look at all your friends that she's gonna meet

She's gonna bawl and shout
She's gonna work it
She's gonna piece of work it out, bye bye
Bye bye baby

Which are TOTALLY different than the La's version.

There she goes
There she goes once more
Racing thru' my brain
And I just can't contain
This feelin' that remains
There she blows
At that place she blows over again
Pulsing thru' my vein
And I just can't contain
This feelin' that remains
There she goes, in that location she goes once more
She calls my name, pulls my train
No-ane else could heal my pain
And I just can't incorporate
This feelin' that remains
There she goes
There she goes over again
Chasing down my lane
And I but can't comprise
This feelin' that remains

Sixpence is 100% faithful to the La's clean version, I don't blame the vocalist of Sixpence not knowing about Lou Reed's original lyrics - you can't look a skillful Christian gal to be into the Hush-hush! "There she blows!"

At present I'1000 totally dislocated, are these other groups covering VU (is the melody at least the same?) or is it simply a rip-off?

They're two different songs. The much later La'southward song is what the Sixpence and Boo Radleys and others are covers of. Never heard a cover of the VU song except for REM, but I gauge there could be others.

We should do this more than often - discuss the meaning backside songs which are sort of ambiguous or confusing. We could start a new thread on a vocal in one case a calendar week or something. Similar a more in depth "Music Game" thread.

I would like to say, that if all you lot've heard is the Sixpense version, yous MUST check out the original La's version. The remastered edition of their sole proper album is the fashion to go. It's incredible from showtime to end. Information technology'southward the birth of Brit-popular, just don't hold that against it, it'southward way way better than whatever Haven album, truly.
